I think it’s fairly safe to say that MOST of us raising chickens for eggs are doing so because we want more control over our food. If your chickens have access to kitchen food scraps, bugs and a little grass..your eggs are already way ahead of even the organic eggs at the store. But, as they say, you are what you eat…so what else are your chickens eating? Organic food? GMO free? If you’re avoiding super processed, packaged food, does it bother you to feed the same to your chickens? I know it bothers us, so here is a collection of 12 resources on DIY chicken foods and methods.

Hey, thanks for featuring my fodder system! Is going really well… so well that now I need to grow it on a slightly larger scale to accommodate more animals! I have total yurt envy by the way.
You are VERY welcome, I’ve really enjoyed following along! Do you by chance have a facebook page? I looked for one, but didn’t find anything.
PS. You could TOTALLY squeeze a baby yurt on your property…call it your home office.
I just started (peer pressure) a Facebook “page” at: http://www.facebook.com/FMicroFarm
Muahaha…well, I’m GLAD. I always look for it…love your blog, and subscribe by email!
Thanks! I subscribe to you by email as well!
Thank you for feeding my ‘breakfast’ recipe. I know it’s not as involved as fermenting or mixing your own base feed, but it’s easy and I believe it covers the bases. Lisa
Thanks for including my homemade chicken feed recipe! What a great collection of recipes to try!!
